The British arts and media veteran, and winner of many BAFTA and International Emmys will be at History 2006 to deliver a compelling Master Class. Got a question for Mr. Isaacs? Submit it here.

Academics Take a Stand!

In response to delegates’ comments and suggestions, we are delighted to present a panel of academics who will debate and discuss issues of importance to History Programmers and Producers at History 2006.

In the opening session, "The Great Debate: Producers vs. Academics," we will pit producers, programmers and academics against each other as they discuss and argue the never-ending questions: Is history simply the collection of documented facts? or an effort to organize and give meaning to the past? What qualifies as history programming? When does history on film succeed or fail? How do we ensuring credibility in documenting history? Who does it best? Worst? Are we entertainers or educators? If there’s something you’d like to explore, submit your questions, ideas and debating topics today.

Help us Capture Opinions on History Programming

For the first time ever, the World Congress of History Producers has commissioned a survey to capture and analyse the opinions of our Delegates and the industry at large. Help us reveal what are the major trends in the History genre? What are the implications for producers? And, more to the point, how can they use this knowledge to make money out of History TV? Veteran industry consultant Peter Hamilton will unveil the results of his survey of History Programming professionals in the session, History Uncovered: The State of History Programming and Searching for Hidden Profits. Contribute to the survey by contacting rcarbonefleury@achillesmedia.com.

Don’t take our word for it!

The World Congress of History Producers is the pre-eminent networking event for the creators, producers, distributors and broadcasters of history programming. Here’s what some of our Delegates had to say about their experiences in Rome last year:

  • “The fellowship was magical. My kudos to all the presenters for lively, educational and entertaining sessions.”
  • “Incredibly relaxed atmosphere and a feeling of goodwill.”
  • “A very focused Congress and useful for Producers, Broadcasters and Suppliers.”
  • “I didn’t expect the sessions being open to such audience participation.”

Executive Producer Craig Thompson and Congress Producer Rita Carbone Fleury were out-and-about all week spreading word about History 2006.
